UIF maternity calculator
UIF pays 66% of your salary for up to 17.32 weeks (121 days) of maternity leave. Salary above R17 712 a month is not counted.
R7 919.89per month of maternity leave
- Per day
- R260.38
- Total over 121 days
- R31 505.98
How it is worked out
- Daily income: your average monthly salary × 12 ÷ 365. Only the first R17 712 a month counts.
- Daily benefit: 66% of that daily income.
- UIF pays the daily benefit for up to 121 days.
This assumes your employer pays you nothing while you are on leave. If your employer pays part of your salary, UIF only tops up the difference, so you would get less than the figure above.
